UPDATE:
OKEMOS - The Okemos varsity volleyball team faced off against Lansing Sexton on Tuesday, September 11.
The Chiefs went into the match against Sexton 1-0 in their league and 3rd place in their conference, but Lansing Sexton starts off with a bang when number 14 Antoinette Lewis scores the first point making it one to zero.
Okemos comes back from a five point deficit after Jess Bauer spikes it to take the lead. Okemos wins the first set 25-12.
The second set begins with Lansing Sexton taking the first couple points after Sammy Theuer serves it into the net and Jessica Richards loses the volley.
But Okemos comes back when Abby Grimm tips it over the net to tie the set at two. Okemos goes on to win the second set.
Okemos starts strong in the third set when number 11 tips it over for the point. The Chiefs go on to win the third set 25-8 and sweep the match against Lansing Sexton.
According to coach Jamie Ianni, their defense won the game.
"I think overall we passed pretty well. We tried to run some tempo, and just tried to keep them out of their offensive system," Ianni said.
Okemos is now 2-0 in their league going in to their match against Jackson.
