UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Haslett High School got their first win of the season beating Okemos High School on Thursday, August 30.
Haslett defeated their rivaled Okemos team 28-20 on the Chief's turf.
The game was tied at 14 at the half, but with eight minutes left in the game Okemos would score on a long pass making it 21-20. But the Vikings would pull away at the end after the defense forced Okemos quarterback to throw an incomplete pass.
The vikings defeated the Chiefs on a final drive down the field in the last few minutes of the game to win 28-20.
According to Haslett coach Charles Otlewski, they won the game in second half.
"In the second half I thought our defense really stepped up, they made some big plays. They got a couple big plays late in the game, but when we needed to have a drive our kids responded," Otlewski said.
Haslett is now 1-1 going in to their game against Owosso High School on September 7.
