UPDATE:
OKEMOS - The morning walk began at the Meridian Activity Center on Okemos Road.
Dan Burden, the Executive Director at Walkable & Livable Communities Institute, led the walk. The purpose was to figure out what is and is not working for the specific area.
"People now have health issues associated with less active lifestyles," said Burden. "We now have a policy in Michigan to complete the streets to build an environment that will work for all people. It will provide equity that will help people get back their health and have many choices in their transportation."
Burden was pleased with how the walk went even with the serious challenges discovered at a couple of the intersections.
