UPDATE:
LANSING - Unemployment has been a topic of debate through recent years as the economic state of this country has struggled. However, unemployment for the state of Michigan has gone down, but in contrast, food assistance has still been on the rise.
Mark Criss, the Executive Director of the City Rescue of Lansing believes that this is because of the types of jobs people are becoming employed with. It may be that people who were recently unemployed, have now been employed with a lower sallery than before. This can thus make it difficult for people to pay things such as mortgage, rent, insurance and of course, food. Criss believes this to be the main reason for this food assistance. Not only are people starting to get jobs, but if it is of minimum wage, it is still difficult to fully support yourself, as well as a family. Watch the video below to get the full story.
