Central Fire Station on November
Ballot

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - After discussion, Meridian Township has added a new item to the November ballot dealing with the safety of its residents.

A consultant determined that the Central Fire Station is beyond repair. And it wouldn't be cost effective to try and renovate it. So the board starting looking at other options.

At a recent Township Board Meeting, they approved to put the Central Fire Station on the ballot for the November election to see if the residents would be willing to pay for a new station.

"And after considerable discussion which is appropriate considering, we're making a decision or at least giving our voters an opportunity that probably will serve to 50 to 75 years in the future," said Jerry Richards, manager of Meridian Township.

The project to build a new fire station would cost the Township around 3 and half million dollars and the new facility would be about 12 thousand square feet.
