UPDATE:
LANSING - The election is drawing near and political signs have regulations on where they can be placed.
If there is a curb signs should be about three feet from the road, but if there is not a curb according to Meridian Township regulations signs must be 15 feet away.
Peter Menser, Assistant Planner for Meridian Township said, "One sign per candidate, we don't limit the number of signs on a persons lot."
The Townships local roads have different standards then state roads. On highways signs must be placed 30 feet from the edge.
Kari Arend, Spokesperson for Department of Transportation said, "If there is ever a concern we will send our maintenance staff out there and physically remove the sign that is either not in compliance or not safe out there for motorists where its placed."
Signs on local roads should be removed within five days after the election and signs on highways should be removed within ten days.
If you see an improperly placed sign you can contact Meridian Township at 517-853-4000.
