MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - A State law is in the Senate waiting for approval that would help those who are going into foreclosure. The idea is to charge less interest on the foreclosure to save the owner money, yet it appears the change won't affect Meridian Township to any viable degree. Because Meridian only had four foreclosures this year, and two of them were bought back by the Township, only two were left. The amount saved on the taxes is minimal, but this house bill could help out other Mid-Michigan communities who have far more foreclosures to deal with.
