UPDATE:
LANSING - The state of Michigan may see changes with their liquor license rules in the coming months.
You may not think of it when you drink your favorite glass of wine, but there are rules and regulations that companies must follow to get the alcohol from the vineyard to the table. And soon, companies may have additional rules to abide by.
"The office of regularly reinvention has recently publicly released its report to Governor Snyder its proposed improvements to Michigan liquor control system," said Phil Hendges, Attorney for the Office of Regulatory reinvention.
The ORR (Office of Regulatory Reinvention) is offering 72 recommendations to update Michigan Laws.
"ORR's recommendations cover a wide variety of topics including licensing and craft brewing and wine making industries," said Hendges.
Some in the alcoholic beverage business seem happy with the proposed changes.
"They seem to be streamlining some government which always seems to be a good thing. Trying to rid of old verbage, which seems to be smart. It appears to be opening more licensees for resorts," said C.J. Davis, General Manager at Dusty's Wine Bar.
The ORR believes these recommendations will help the hospitality sector in Michigan.
