UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - A field fire at a Meridian Township land preserve left the area scorched.

A 15-acre grass fire broke out at the Southwest Meridian Uplands Preserve on Jun 24. Several officials were needed to put out the fire.

As of June 29 at 7 p.m. a burning ban on all open fire will be issued due to fires and extremely hot weather.
