UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The frequently visited Meridian Senior Center has reopened after being closed for three weeks for remodeling.
The center offers many activities that promote health and wellness. One of the popular activities that members participate in is playing cards. Members mainly enjoy spending time with others, but some enjoy the volunteering.
Pattie Bass says what she enjoys most is doing something for someone else. She currently plays the piano during lunchtime one day a week.
"Someone invited me and I came in and joined. I play by ear, I don't read music," said Bass.
Like others, Bass says she is glad to be back. The center now has a whole new look with fresh paint and new carpet.
The arrangement inside the center was changed also to add to the new look including the library that changed locations.
"For myself I missed coming and it wasn't just for work it was just coming to see the people," said Substitute Server Julia Fox.
The community is thrilled to have the senior center reopened.
"It just makes it a little bit more homey with the new carpet and everything," said Fox. "We've got some new rooms including a sitting room for people who want to sit and read, listen to music or listen to books on tape. It's just like a brand new place to come, it's all fresh and new."
Anyone interested in becoming a member can call or stop by for a membership card. The fee is $15 per year.
