• Plans for Towner Road Park in Haslett are underway.

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - There is a lot of community support for a sports complex and athletic fields to be built at Towner Road Park, located on Towner Road.

The Park Commission is working with Viridis Design Group on developing construction plans. The design of the park includes a parking lot, a playground, batting cages, two ball diamonds, a perimeter pathway and a large open space for lacrosse, soccer and football.

Director of Parks and Recreation LuAnn Maisner said, "The engineering part is nearly complete. I would say we will have everything in the next six to eight weeks from Viridis and then the Park Commission will work toward a plan for development. This is really going to be well received and there is a lot of support for this."

The whole site is 22 acres and the cost is going to be around two million dollars. The township is planning to apply for grants and to seek contributions from the community.
