UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - In the heart of Downtown Okemos lies the office for Michigan's own, Healthy & Fit Magazine. The magazine was created seven years ago by Tim Kissman and his mother, Kathy Kissman.

"It turned out we work so well together and our talents complement each other and our experience complements each other," said Kathy Kissman.

Kathy's job is advertising and sales.

"That I think is the biggest part of this, we don't ever get in each others way, the magazine is just better because we are a team and I think that is a nice thing to discover about your children," said Kissman.

This magazine focuses on healthy lifestyles including gyms in the area and eating advice. And the best part is, it's free.

Kissman says, "And it's free when you see it in the store, we have over 600 distribution points."

You can find the magazine at Dicks Sporting Goods, doctors offices, the library, or grocery stores. They also have an online version at www.healthyandfitmagazine.com.

Kissman says, "Not the magazine cover to cover, but articles from the magazine are posted online each month."

On September 15th at the Lansing Center, they will host an expo full of health and fitness vendors.
