UPDATE:
EAST LANSING - Last Wednesday many biyclists int he area rode together in silence through downtown Lansing.
Around a hundred bikers gathered for the fifth annual Ride of Silence in Lansing. They rode in remembrance if friends and family who have been killed or hurt by drivers while biking. The manager of MSU bikes, Tim Potter, had this to say about what the Ride of Silence means to these bicyclists.
The special part of it is just being able to be with other people and recognize the problem and spend that hour of time just focusing on the issue at hand
The bikers rode from the MSU campus to the capitol downtown with MSU and East Lansing police escorts. Along with the other three hundred plus events nation wide, they hope to continue these rides in the future to help bring awareness for the safety of bikers on the road.
