UPDATE:
EAST LANSING - Meet Tasha Likavec, a second year vet student at Michigan State.
"I had horses and I always liked taking care of them, and then if they got sick I thought that was really interesting," said Likavec.
When Tasha is not at home, you can find her in the lab working on her goal of becoming a veterinary professor.
Tasha says about school, "Well, it's definitely life changing like everyone tells you it's really really hard and it is really hard, but it's also really awesome too."
Tasha and other Vet students get to share their experiences at the annual Vet-A-Visit. The Vet-A-Visit is the one day a year the school opens it's doors to the public.
From milking cows to putting their hands inside of cows, this is a day where kids get to learn about animals and see if they want to be a vet too.
"My son is seven and I think all seven year olds are interested in animals. And we came from Ohio so we can't go to the University of Michigan so this is ten years down the road," said a Vet-A-Visit attendee.
Almost the entire school is open and the students as well as the professors share their knowledge through a series of kid friendly activities.
"My favorite part, because I'm walking around all day I get to see everything, I think it would be watching kids really get into whatever they're doing, even if it's just a craft or watching the horse run on the treadmill or sticking their hand inside the rumen of a cow they just get really into it and I really like to see my classmates interacting with them and having a good time and being proud of what they do," said Likavec.
Over 3,000 people attended this year's Vet-A-Visit. To learn more about the College of Veterinary Medicine you can visit their website at cvm.msu.edu.
