UPDATE:
LANSING - The IRS has recently revoked non-profit organizations of their tax-exempt statuses. The reasoning behind this is that many non-profit organizations have failed to file their tax returns, or a 990 through the IRS for several years. Because of this, the IRS decided to start taking away these tax-exempt statuses in hopes to make clear whether an organization is non-profit or not. Although this could effect many organizations in the area, they have a chance to regain their tax-exempt status if they are to continue to file their tax returns.
