OKEMOS, MI - The Meridian Township and East Lansing Fire Departments held their annual Great Divide competition at Home Depot in Okemos on Friday, October 20.
The event kicked off with the Michigan State University cheer team and Williamston High School marching band parading around the store. Sparty was in attendance, along with free food and beverages. Every year this friendly contest challenges both departments to see who can cut a car in half using battery-operated power saws with each teams consisting of four firefighters. Meridian Township won last year with a time of two minutes and ten seconds and came out on top once again with a new record of one minute.
The Meridian Township Fire Department was also presented with a trophy for their victory.
Congratulations to everyone that participated in this year’s event!
