HASLETT, MI - The third event of the Meridian Freedom Fest continued over the weekend with the Blues & Jazz Festival at Lake Lansing Park South on Saturday June 17.

The event was open to the public were everyone could enjoy the day with dancing and live music by Mixed Flavors, The Sound, Tony Thompson & Friends, and more. There was a vehicle entrance fee to park at Lake Lansing South for $3 for Ingham County Residents and non-residents paying $5. Small business vendors were also in attendance, along with activities available for all ages.

“This is our third year the Juneteenth of Meridian Planning Committee was able to gather sponsors and members of the public familiar with Meridian Township for this event, said Neighborhoods & Economic Development Director, Amber Clark. As an American culture, we should be embracing the diverse fabric of all our cultures, we’re emphasizing what Juneteenth is, which is June 19th, 1865. In Galveston Texas enslaved populations learned of their inalienable rights which is life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That’s why we say our freedom is everyone’s freedom and uphold what is in the emancipation proclamation.

Director Clark thanked the sponsors, the community, and the Ingham County Parks for letting Meridian Township use the park for this event.
