DIMONDALE, MI - The Meridian Green Team was able to tour the Hammond Farms Landscape Supply facility on Monday, March 20.
The tour was open to the public and everyone in attendance was able to see the day-to-day operations of composting different materials. Hammond Farms is a certified facility that takes biodegradable (BPI) products as well as other compostable waste.
“We're always excited to give tours here and spread the word on how compost is made and have ways other than a landfill to get rid of yard waste or food scraps. It's nice to always bring people in and make sure they are informed what is and isn’t compostable and show them how the process is done,” says Lee Hammond Jr., the General Manager of Hammond Farms Landscape Supply.
Hammond thanked the Meridian Green Team for putting the tour together and coming out and bringing people from Meridian Township and surrounding areas to see what the company does and how they do it.
