MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Friends of the Historic Meridian, Nokomis Cultural Heritage Center and Meridian Township Parks & Recreation invited the community to a cultural celebration at the Meridian Historical Village and the Nokomis Cultural Heritage Center on Saturday, October 1, 2022.
The family friendly event went from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm and began with a ceremony and prayer at the Nokomis Cultural Heritage Center. Various vendors were in attendance, along with Native American activities, food trucks and musical entertainment. The event had a Vintage Baseball game this year that took place at 1:00 pm with the Chelsea Monitors versus the Lansing Capitals. Visitors were able to get an inside look at the Historical Village Buildings, and a live experience with Meridian Township’s history from the 1860’s.
Civil War reenactment presentation’s were also performed from the 7th Michigan Company B Volunteer Infantry & the 102nd Colored Company to show everyone the life of civilians, and military soldiers during the Civil War from the different aspects of the average civilian life during that historical period.
