HASLETT, MI - On the morning of June 23, the Ingham County Road Department was working on the Haslett and Park Lake intersection. While working on it, one of their contractors caused a water main break to one of the Township's main water distribution lines.
As a result, residents experienced water loss or decreased water pressure for a short amount of time. Director of Public Works Dan Oppsomer shared a brief recap of the incident "The road department's work that they are doing at the intersection that caused this was the widening of Haslett Road.
Residents can navigate to the Get Connected page on the Meridian Township Website where they will be able to subscribe to Everbridge, a community alert system. In addition to Everbridge, residents can also sign up for email notifications directly from the Towship where they can receive updates about weather, emergencies, road closures, and more.
Director Opsommer would also like to address his appreciation for everyone's patience during this time, “These water main breaks are very rare and we have already met with the road department on site at the intersection to make sure we hydro excavate the remaining soils as they work on other corners of the intersection to assure there are no further issues on this road project.”
