Meridian Township Fire Department on Raising Awareness About Heat Safety

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - As the temperatures are continuing to rise throughout the state of Michigan, residents are reminded to be cautious and prepared to avoid the negative impact the hot temperatures can cause. Which includes heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

In Meridian Township, Fire Chief, Mike Hamel, provides helpful information to prepare and most importantly to stay cool in extreme heat for the community.

“Some of the tips you never should forget when it comes to heat is you got to drink fluids, fluids are most important,” said Fire Chief Hamel.

Fire Chief Hamel also highlights more tips regarding the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke, keeping kids and pets safe during extreme heat at all times and more recommendations in the video provided below.

When it’s hot outside, it’s important to keep cool, rested and hydrated. It’s important to reduce your body heat to avoid heatstroke.
