MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, MI - Warm weather and Meridian Township’s Summer Concert Series have returned. On June 1, Mid-Michigan band the Sea Cruisers opened the second-ever season of weekly concerts with a set list straight from the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s.
The Sea Cruisers are return performers for the concert series. According to drummer and singer Don Dove, the band has been playing throughout the Mid-Michigan area, including Meridian Township, since their inception over 30 years ago.
A love for music and local artists influenced the band’s formation, said Dove. “Growing up in Chelsea, Michigan … going to Detroit every weekend, listening to Motown, listening to all the music out of Detroit,” provided a “lot of inspiration.”
The band covered tunes including “Hey! Baby,” “Long May You Run” and “Stand By Me” for a crowd of listeners and dancers both young and old.
The Summer Concert Series will continue through August 31. For more information, visit the website below.
