OKEMOS - On January 25, the Meridian Township Board members adopted the five year Parks and Recreation updated Master Plan running between 2022 and 2026.
This Master Plan serves as a comprehensive document that evaluates the inventory of past projects, while keeping track of the history of recent developments on every site included in the plan. In addition, the plan takes into account community input, highlighting the needs of community members around the Township.
Parks and Recreation Director LuAnn Maisner gave a presentation highlighting past completed projects since the last Master Plan, such as the Hillbrook Park tennis, pickleball, and basketball court renovation project, development of Towner Road Park, the nature exploration area at the Harris Nature Center, the art installation at the Marketplace on the Green, and much more.
Maisner said, "This plan also serves as a planning guide for future projects in our community and provides an opportunity for public input so we can gauge how our community feels about our system."
Director Maisner noted that this Master Plan can be altered at any time and would require the approval of community members through a public hearing and the Board members before doing so in order to be eligible for government grants.
The final draft for the plan can be found on Meridian Township's website.
