MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - September is National Voter Registration Month and the Meridian Township's Clerk's Office put on events to spread information and awareness about registering to vote.
Township Clerk Deborah Guthrie said she remembered her first time voting and wanted to spread that excitement and passion she has to others in the community.
"I remember when I turned 18 and I was so excited," Guthrie said. "I thought it was the most exciting time of my life, not because I turned 18 and was an adult and all that, it's because I could register to vote."
Here are the events hosted by the Meridian Township Clerk's Office:
- Voter Registration Booth at the Farmers' Markets on Wednesdays (Sept. 15, 22 and 29).
- Curbside Voter Registration outside of the Meridian Township Municipal Building starting Sept. 20 through Sept. 24 from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm.
- 'Coffee With Your Clerk' on Sept. 28 at Biggby Coffee (4756 Marsh Road) from 7:30 am to 8:30 am.
- 'Ask Your Clerk' Virtual Session on Sept. 28 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am via Zoom.
Michigan residents can register to vote up to 8:00 pm on Election Day at the township clerk's office.
