INGHAM COUNTY - Ingham County Health Department Health Officer Linda Vail held a press conference to discuss current coronavirus updates for the county on Sept. 21.
As of Sept. 21, Ingham County has reached almost 28,000 cumulative cases of COVID-19 and the current number of active cases is 1,762, according to the Health Department.
The department said the number of COVID-19 tests are decreasing and the overall number of cases are plateauing due to Michigan State University students back on campus.
Vail said the department is working closely with MSU to keep track of cases and keep everybody safe.
“MSU is not a health department,” Vail said. “All of those cases need to be in our database.”
As for the future, Vail said that cases could peak again, but not to the existent that occurred during this time last year.
