OKEMOS - Last Saturday, Meridian Township hosted its first Green Fair at the Market Place on the Green Pavilion between 8 am to 2 pm, bringing various green groups together from around Michigan to set up booths by the Meridian Township Farmers' Market.
The Green Fair featured various organizations, including Consumers Energy, Granger, Meridian Green Team, and many more, to discuss recycling opportunities and involve community members in different environmental programs.
Sarah Allen From the Meridian Green Team stated, “We wanted just to be able to educate the community about our recycling opportunities, different ways of doing green things within the community teaching people about our wetlands that we live on and we are trying to encourage people to learn about what we have going on environmentally.”
The Green Fair is one of many programs hosted this summer by the Township promoting environmental projects and services while offering resources through booklets and brochures discussing the different ways residents can impact the environment.
