MASON - Last Week, the Ingham County Animal Control shelter hosted a name your price pet adoption special event from Monday, August 16 through Friday, August 20.
This event encourages the adoption of cats and dogs at the animal shelter at this time of year. The facility had reached full capacity and is in dire need of new homes for the animals housed in the shelter.
Adoptable dogs and cats at the shelter will have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, and have age-appropriate vaccinations. Dog licenses must still be purchased when adopting dogs. Adoption applications are required, along with a letter of approval by the landlord or leasing agency.
Meet and greet appointments for dogs can be arranged ahead of time if a second dog lives in a current household once the adoption application has been approved. The shelter features a playroom for cats/kittens and a small park for dogs to play with potential adopters.
The Community outreach manager, Julie Hills, stated, "Some things that are unique and different about our shelter here is that we have our fear-free program because a shelter environment can be kind of stressful for animals where we do different enrichment activities and do everything we can to keep stress down in the animals so they can stay happy and stress-free.”
ICACS is also recruiting foster homes for the many cats in their care. If long-term adoption is not a right fit for the household, consider temporary placements through the ICACS foster program. Contact the foster coordinator at 517.676.8311 for more details.
