MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The U.S Census Bureau released the 2020 Census data on Thursday, revealing that Meridian Township had a nearly 11% growth in the last decade. As of April 1, 2020, Meridian Township had a total population of 43, 916, an increase of more than 4,000 from the April 1, 2010 population, of 39,688.
The Township Board says they are committed to maintaining steady, controlled growth.
“The Township Board is dedicated to smart growth that increases the vitality & desirability of Meridian, while maintaining its character as Mid-Michigan’s prime community,” said Township Supervisor Ronald J. Styka.
Meridian Township has continued to grow, while Okemos and Haslett have seen population decrease.
"People are choosing Meridian Township over other communities because of the education, public safety, parks and open space,” stated Township Manager Frank L. Walsh.
