MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Township Board is starting the 2021 Local Road Plan. The plan includes 8.87 miles of resurfacing work, 7.61 miles of preventative crack sealing maintenance, and 1.50 miles of cape seal work.
The Road Plan was presented to the Township Board in December 2020 and has a total budget of $3.9 million. Funds for the Local Roads Program come from the 10-year local road bond approved by voters in August 2019.
The list of streets to be rehabilitated is available for the public to view on the meridian township website and includes descriptions of what type of construction each street will undergo.
“We want to preserve the roads so they don't deteriorate over time and we get in the position that we've been in for the last decade where we just have failed roads and they are the most expensive to replace,” Derek N. Perry, Director of Public Works, said.
Once completed, the 2021 Local Road Plan will have resurfaced 17.98 miles of local roads. More information is available on the Meridian Township website.
