EAST LANSING, MI - Construction will soon begin at the intersection of Lake Lansing and Towar Avenue, as part of the trails project connecting the Northern Tier Trail to White Park. The renovation, which was approved in January, will create a safer and more efficient intersection.
The Eastbound slip lane will be removed, meaning right turning traffic will now abide by the traffic light. Pedestrian-friendly features will be added to the intersection, including audible signals, ramps, curb cuts, and signage.
Funding for the project originally came solely from the Ingham Country Trails and Parks Millage, who allocated nearly $500,000 to the remodel. However, an additional $300,000 has been added by a grant from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust fund for improvements to natural features.
The project is estimated to be completed by the end of August or early September.
