EAST LANSING - Michigan State University issued an email to students alerting them that the B.1.17. coronavirus variant has been detected within the campus community.
“We cannot let our guard down now,” said MSU President, Samuel Stanley. “Simply put, we all must take personal responsibility and do our part to comply with all campus, city, county and state health measures.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s website, the current approved COVID-19 vaccines are efficient in protecting those vaccinated against the U.K. strain of the virus.
In Michigan, there are currently 616 confirmed cases of the U.K. strain of the coronavirus.
