LANSING, MI - In the Zoning Board of Appeals meeting on February 24, the Board approved the new variance presented by Johnson Sign Company for the building located at 2076 Towner Road.
This variance was requested to install a 48 square foot wall on the north building facade. There is currently a sign on the west facade that faces Saginaw Highway, but another will allow for better traffic flow.
This variance falls under the Code of Ordinances which outlines that one wall sign is permitted and has to be located flat against the building’s front facade
The main problem presented by Jim Johnson of Johnson Sign Company was that it’s difficult for clients to find the business with the location of the current sign.
Johnson’s client feels it’s important to have this signage for incoming traffic that are having trouble viewing the current one while traveling to the building. It’s also causes an issue for delivery trucks not being able to identify the building.
The 5,613 square foot building was constructed in 2017. There are two tenants who occupy this building, Great Lakes Furniture and Retractable Solutions Inc. The newly approved sign will be both beneficial for building occupants and incoming clients.
