MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Blondie’s Barn will continue its eight year tradition of giving away meals on Thanksgiving day.
This year is unique though, because for the first time, the restaurant will only offer to-go meals for curbside pickup only.
Jenna Phillips, Marketing Director for Blondies Barn said, “We’re hoping that our customers take their meals to go because we want to make sure it’s as safe as possible for our unique situation this year.”
Andrew Manuel, owner of Blondies Barn, would begin preparing the Turkeys on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. The meals will be prepackaged and ready to be distributed by Thanksgiving morning.
Phillips said that they are over-preparing this year because this is the first year that they are doing curbside pickup. In the past, they have prepared food for 300-400 people.
A variety of traditional Thanksgiving dishes will be on the menu including, turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole and more.
In the past, the restaurant would move the tables so that they are “family style” and welcome guests in the restaurant for dinner. There would also be a live band playing music and a local Santa Claus.
“One of our favorite parts about it is that a lot of people come in by themselves and leave as friends,” said Phillips. “We will definitely miss being able to sit down with our favorite customers this year, but it's good that we'll still be able to see them from a safe distance with masks."
Families who would like to get a meal are welcomed to Blondie Restaurant, 5640 Marsh Rd, on Thursday, November, 26th from 12pm-2pm. All meals are free but donations will not be turned down.
