LANSING - Consumers Energy is encouraging Michiganders to offer their input for the energy company’s Clean Energy Plan during a series of virtual open houses.

The Clean Energy Plan aims to eliminate coal and assists in the goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by the year 2040.

“We are determined to create the best Clean Energy Plan for Michigan, and we can’t do it alone,” said the Director of Electric Supply Planning, Jessica Woycehoski.

Some topics the open houses will cover include building a smarter power grid, protecting the environment, solar power and wind power.

“We need to understand what’s most important to our customers and key stakeholders and how they see the state’s energy future taking shape in the next 20 years,” said Woycehoski.

During the next open house on October 13., the topic of protecting the planet will be addressed. Previous open houses and a full schedule of future open houses is available at MICleanEnergy.com.

The public input will be considered in June, when the Clean Energy Plan is reviewed and updated by the Michigan Public Service Commission.
