HASLETT, MI - Ingham County Parks held a special ceremony on Thursday, October 1st at Lake Lansing South located at 1621 Pike St in Haslett, MI.

The event began at 4:30 pm to celebrate the completion of the new boat dock which was jointly funded by the County Trails and Parks Millage, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Trust Fund, and the County Capital Improvement Fund to replace the aging dock with a single facility. Ingham County Parks Director, Timothy Morgan, spoke a few words, “Installing the new docks that will facilitate the multiple needs of the community presented some interesting challenges that made the completed project even more rewarding.”

The site was severed by two separate piers; one at the south end which supported fishing, while the one on the north end supported paddle boat rentals. The new addition to the park has increased accessibility and the opportunity to fish. Not only was the new dock designed for the needs of the fishing community but also for boaters and park visitors and accommodates boat rentals, boat tie-ups and a future universally accessible kayak launch.

County Commissioner Emily Stivers was also present and thanked Ingham County residents for voting and supporting the Ingham County Trails and Park Millage that just renewed in March of this year. The total budget of the project was $456,000, and the Ingham County Parks thanked everyone involved with the Lake Lansing South improvements project to make this new dock a reality.
