MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, MI - Capital Area District Libraries (CADL) will open back up on Monday, October 5th. Members will be welcomed at its 13 locations for computer use by appointment only. Appointments are restricted to one per day per person for a 45 minute computer session.

Scott Duimstra, Executive Director for CADL, announced the reopening during a Facebook live. “Many members of our community depend on us for access to technology—for educational purposes, to search for employment, and to stay connected with family and friends,” he said.

Libraries currently have a grab and go service where people can search the website for items and the library staff will look it up and put it on hold. Computer sessions will be an additional service that CADL provides.

The number of computer stations open will be limited to meet the library’s 25% capacity level. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Otherwise, only one person at a time is allowed at each computer. There will be a chat feature on public computers to offer technology assistance.

Patrons will be able to print up to ten pages for free but copy and fax machines will not be available for use. Browsing the library will also be prohibited.

CADL will implement safety guidelines including social distancing and mask mandates. They will also offer disposable masks. Before entering the building, guests will undergo a health screening. Computer stations will be wiped down after each use.
