MICHIGAN - Almost all Michigan health insurers will waive COVID-19 costs for both tests and treatments until the end of the year. This includes deductibles, copays and coinsurance.
This announcement was made by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services, or DIFS, on Friday. The agreements cover greater than 92% of Michigan commercial health markets.
Covered treatments include primary care and emergency room visits, ambulance charges, medications and eventually a vaccine when one is discovered and available to the public.
Whitmer said that accessible testing and medical treatment is an important part in the fight against COVID-19.
