CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - On Monday, August 10th, Big Ten Conference presidents voted 12-2 in a straw poll to see were presidents of Big Ten Schools were at with football in 2020.
Michigan Head Football Coach Jim Harbaugh released a statement saying college football can be played in the fall due to the protocols Harbaugh and his staff have put in place. Testing of coaches and staff over eight weeks produced 353 negative tests . Harbaugh said Michigan Football has been following CDC guidelines and self implement stricter standards for containing contact tracing in quarantining to prevent spread. However, 16 out of 122 Michigan State football players and two staff members tested positive for COVID-19 causing the football team to stop workouts until those players affected by COVID-19 were clear to return.
Nebraska Football Coach Scott Frost told the media that, " We want to play a Big Ten schedule. Our university is committed to playing no matter what, no matter what that looks like or how that looks. We certainly hope it's the BIG Ten. If it isn't, I think we're prepared to look for other options."
The SEC, BIG 12, ACC, and the BIG Ten conferences are expected to make a decision on their football season today.
