EAST LANSING, MI - Michigan State University (MSU) has announced that current and new students will not see a rise in the tuition next year. Many people are having worries that prices will be raised due to the sudden drop in the economy. This pandemic has led many people to be out of work due to the "Stay Home, Stay Safe" executive order put in place by Governor Whitmer.
Colleges are adapting to this crisis as time goes on. MSU did not hesitate to cancel in-person classes, before ultimately moving to an online curriculum for the remainder of the year. They even were forced to cancel their graduation ceremonies.
MSU's President Samuel L. Stanley Jr. had this to say, "In the coming months many families will be facing difficult financial decisions as a result of the pandemic. In freezing tuition rates for the upcoming academic year, we are doing what we can to ensure students can stay in our Spartan family."
MSU operates under a two year budget that gets approved in June of 2018. The budget included a freeze for all undergrad students for the 2020-2021 school year.
