INGHAM COUNTY - Like many businesses affected by COVID-19, Early Autism Services has had to adapt because they can't see their patients in person. Alexx Triner of Early Autism Services in Lansing tells HOMTV, "We have reduced the number of houses that each one of our technicians are going into, so every technician is assigned one house and each house is only seeing one technician right now so we are not going into multiple homes. All our staff is trained to do Telehealth. For the parents who don't want to continue with direct therapy right now, we are doing parent training and supervision through Telehealth."

Alexx Triner explained to HOMTV about the age range of children with Autism that they work with, “We work with all children between the ages of two and twelve years old that have been diagnosed with autism regardless of their level of functioning."

When asked about special events, she tells HOMTV, "It would be up to the locations. Each of our locations is responsible for all of their own outreach programs and special events such as crafts at libraries. If we have a clinic at a location, they have holiday parties, or trick or treating, and Santa visits. It depends on the location and each location does something different. During this time of social distancing and shelter in place, we are going to begin hosting a weekly online family event dedicated for children with autism and their families. Because families are required to be at home for social distancing, parents are in need of fun and interactive activities they can do at home with their children. This will include music and movement, puppets, story time and more. The activities will be tailored to children on the spectrum, but all are welcome. Families can learn fun new songs and activities, and we will also provide parents with tips along the way to help keep kids engaged, having fun, and learning new skills."
