MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - In light of Governor Gretchen Whitmer's extension of the "Stay Home, Stay Safe" Executive Order, Meridian Township officials have announced that Township offices will remain closed through Thursday, April 30, with a tentative re-open on Friday, May 1.

Meridian Township Supervisor Ron Styka had this to say, "We want Meridian Township residents to know we are here to care for and serve you at all times and especially during COVID-19. Please continue to care for one another as we fight this global pandemic."

In Meridian Township's press release, they stated additional Township COVID-19 responses, facility closures, and event cancellations:

-Meridian Township residents have been granted an additional 30 days to pay current water bills and those which will be mailed in April. Water shuts-offs will continue to be suspended.

-All Rural Residential Burn Permits have been suspended. Recreational burning is still permitted for cooking or recreational enjoyment only, in a contained ring, pit or appliance.

-Township Board and Commission meetings have been canceled unless otherwise posted on the Township website. Township Board meetings are currently being held virtually. The next Township Board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 14th at 6:00 pm via Zoom. Please visit www.meridian.mi.us for more details.

-All Township events have been canceled through at least April 30th, including the Meridian Farmers’ Market and Meridian Spring Recycling event scheduled for April 25th.

-Township park amenities such as playgrounds, athletic fields, courts and bathrooms are closed until further notice. The Small Dog Park has also been closed. All other Township parks and trails remain open from dawn until dusk.

-Adult Sports and Youth Sports are postponed until further notice. Youth Soccer has been canceled.

Through all this, residents are still encouraged to all 9-1-1 for any emergencies they may have.
