Michigan State Student Speaks Out About Life After Cancelled Classes

EAST LANSING - Due to the coronavirus outbreak, Michigan State University cancelled all in person classes and moved them online. HOMTV had the opportunity to speak with Michigan State University Student Keith Schmidt about how he is handling the new changes implemented by MSU and the state of Michigan. He attends class online with the help of D2L (Desire2Learn), an online platform MSU students use for classes, and says they are going well.

Keith also shared with me his feelings on MSU graduation getting postponed, "I am just glad that it is being postponed and not cancelled. I have an older sister who is planning to graduate this spring, and I would just really feel for the seniors if they weren't able to do that, cause they spent four years working through school. You'd hope they'd get a chance to walk across the stage. I think that it's a cool moment that they should still get to have."

Keith also told HOMTV that he thinks the next time students will be back on MSU's campus will be next fall, and agrees with the executive order closing bars and public spaces during this time. He stated that if they remained open, students would be more tempted to partake in group outings.

HOMTV will continue to report stories of different community members and how they're adjusting to the new normal.
