MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On Wednesday, November 27th, the Meridian Township Farmers' Market held their annual Day Before Thanksgiving Market event from 10 am to 2 pm.
Despite cold and rainy weather, residents stopped by to pick up local and fresh products like squash, pickles, pies, cheeses, spinach, honey, eggs, bread, maple syrup, chicken, turkey and seasonal decorations before the Thanksgiving holiday and enjoy the last outdoor Farmers' Market of the year.
Gayelord Mankowski, has been part of this event since 2009, and has been selling Michigan Made Gourmet Pickles. Mankowski was also excited to see residents come and pick up goods from local vendors.
"For a lot of us this is the last opportunity for people to be exposed to our products, cause for a lot of us we will be done until next May."
Mankowski also enjoyed seeing all the other vendors come out and show support for the event and each other.
"We try to support each other, many of us consider each other friends, so we build and try to buy from each other. For example, Owosso Organics, I buy my peppers from, and in turn they may buy pickles from me."
The next Day Before Thanksgiving Market event is set to take place next November at the new location of the Meridian Township Farmers' Market, near the Meridian Mall area.
