OKEMOS - HOMTV was invited to speak to school aged kids enrolled in the summer program at Jackson National Life Child Development Center on June 28th to educate and train the next possible group of journalists.

Executive Producer and Internship Coordinator Brandie Yates along with reporting intern Mikayla Temple gave the students the inside scoop on what it’s like to work in television production while letting them operate the camera, interview their classmates and ask their teachers some tough questions.

On July 1st and 2nd, the class came to HOMTV studios to see what a typical working day is like for the staff and interns and even sit in on a live taping of Meridian News Now.

The kids were eager to sit behind the news desk and see themselves on camera after the show. It was obvious that many of them were intrigued by the thought of working in television news both in front and behind the camera.

Watch out journalism world, the next group of journalists is in the making right at Jackson National Life and one day their work might even appear on HOMTV.
