MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Harris Nature Center launched a new series this summer called Music in Nature. Three different trios will play live music in the Gathering Circle while visitors have the choice to listen concert-style, walk the trails, picnic, or move around the park.
The first event in the series featured Monte Pride and Gifts or Creatures. Monte Pride is a Michigan-born and raised singer-songwriter who brings stories of love, loss and healing to soul-stirring songs on his guitar. Gifts or Creatures is the husband-wife duo. The couple blends Midwestern folklore, old-world history and cinematic soundscapes, bringing Americana imagery to life.
People were enjoying the beautiful music and peaceful forest at first, but then a heavy rain interrupted the event. However, the Harris Nature Center didn’t stop the show. Attendees moved to the Center Building after the storm. The location change and bad weather didn’t extinguish the passion of the audience, and the whole show had great success in the end.
