MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On Wednesday, June 19th, a ribbon was cut to celebrate a new small dog park opening within Nancy Moore Park in Meridian Township.
Made for canines 30 pounds and under, this park will be open from dusk until dawn every day of the year.
Meridian Township resident Amy McBAIN said, "This is definitely something that is needed in our community."
Some of the park’s features include agility equipment, seating areas and a dog wash with a water fountain.
Meridian Township Park Commission Vice Chair Amanda Lick said, "I think one of my favorite parts about this park is the fact that it's going to bring so many members of the community together that may not meet or mix at all."
Although small dogs will be able to run leash free, registration is required to access the designated off-leash areas.
These fees will allow the Township to maintain the safety and quality of the park.
You can pick up a paper copy of the dog park registration form at the Meridian Township Parks and Recreation Office.
