ORIGINAL STORY:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Township Police Department participated in a Joint Press Conference on May 10 with the Ingham County Sheriff's Office and Eaton County Sheriff's Office regarding an ongoing investigation of a double homicide. One victim was found in Meridian Township and the other was found in Delhi Township. Names of the victims have not yet been released.
Eaton County Sheriff's Office responded to a Personal Protection Order (PPO) violation/unwanted subject call where a woman said a man was knocking on her apartment door trying to get in. The woman didn't answer the door or let him in. Police reported that the woman knew the man and they had been texting back in forth. Before he left, he text her saying "he loved her, so he spared her. And she will know what that meant soon".
Eaton County Deputies made a traffic stop on the suspect's vehicle, they took the driver into custody on other warrants. The suspect showed them photos on his phone of two females who appeared to be deceased.
The Eaton County Sheriff's Office notified the Ingham County Sheriff's Office and Meridian Township Police Department of the potential homicides. Delhi Township Deputies of the Ingham County Sheriff's Office and Meridian Township Police Officers were then able to locate the two victims. The 26-year-old victim was located in the 4400 block of Doncaster Avenue in Holt. The 32-year-old victim was located in the 27000 block of Grand Rivcer Avenue in Meridian Township. Ingham County Sheriff Scott Wriggelsworth said that both of these victims died of multiple blunt force trauma. Police stated that the suspect did know both victims.
"I don't think there was any doubt that the suspect was on a killing spree and his quick capture probably saved many lives," said Wriggelsworth. "We have learned that there were other victims this guy intended to kill. We have made contact with all of those female victims and they are all fine."
"These weren't random acts necessarily," added Wriggelsworth. The two additional women police made contact with said they knew him as well.
The suspect's name has not yet been released.
The investigation of this case is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this incident is requested to contact Sergeant Bart Crane at the Meridian Township Police Department at 517.853.4800.
