LANSING - On Thursday April 18, an event was held at the Small Talk Children's Advocacy Center in Lansing, and hosted a going away party for the crisis counselor Ashley Vance and her advocate dog Preston. The event was from noon - 1pm and lunch was provided along with a brief ceremony that took place at 12:15pm with a few words from their colleagues.
Ashley and Preston have had a big impact at Small Talk. Helping children who survived physical and sexual abuse in Ingham and Eaton counties and providing unconditional love and support. They have put more than 100 hours in both the courtroom, and with clients at Small Talk, helping over 700 children. Together Ashley and Preston have been with the Small Talk for three and a half years and are now headed to the Children's Advocacy Center to work with children in Kent County in Grand Rapids, MI.
Executive Director of Small Talk, Alex Brace thanked them both for all the work that had been put into the organization and excited to see them continue their mission helping Children. They're last day at Small Talk will be Thursday, April 25.
