LANSING - When it comes to receiving care as a senior citizen, there are many different options to choose from. One option is the PACE program offered at the Senior CommUnity Care of Michigan Center.

PACE stands for program of all-inclusive care for the elderly, and is a day-center program designed to become the patient's primary care and insurance, according to Michelle Rincon, the marketing manager for Senior CommUnity Care of Michigan PACE.

Rincon said the PACE program addresses all of the health and safety needs of the patient so that way they can continue to live safely at home.

Because the program is funded through Medicare and Medicaid, potential participants must have a referral in order to receive services provided by PACE, Rincon said.

Rincon said the PACE program is kind of a one-stop shop.

"So we cover everything health and safety from podiatry, audiology, optometry, to their specialty clinic appointments, their urgent care appointments," Rincon said. "We do some home health care for them. We have the day-center where people are able to come and have breakfast and lunch, they get socialization and activities. Plus, within this center, we have the family practice and the urgent care. We have occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy to include our social workers so it's kind of a one-stop shop."

The facility also has a room designated for patients who have memory illnesses like dementia and Alzheimer's.

In addition, the PACE program provides transportation for all of the care they provide.

Rincon said potential participants can be referred through referral agencies, other assisted living facilities, rehabilitation centers, through family and friends and more.
