FOWLERSVILLE - The Haslett girls basketball team beat Chelsea High School 46-43 on Tuesday.
The Vikings were able to get off to a good start including a couple three-pointers, and they were able to stay ahead the rest of the game, but never comfortably.
Chelsea stayed in the game until the very end when they were only down two with under 40 seconds left. With a few clutch free-throws, the Vikings were able to hold on to the victory.
After the game, Haslett Head Coach Ross Baker said, "The big thing I was thinking about coming into tonight was, I wanna keep coaching this team at least two more practices and at least one more game, and the only way we do that is if we win tonight. So I just tried to think about it that way."
One of the keys to Haslett's success was thanks to their center, Imania Baker, who finished with 16 points. It seemed like she was unstoppable when she was under the basket.
Baker went down with an injury during the second half but managed to come back onto the court during the late stages of the game.
Haslett will now face Detroit Edison in the semifinals at 7:30pm on Friday at Van Noord Arena in Grand Rapids.
